Update 6/2

It's been quite the week. Juliana had the NG tube from Tuesday night through Sunday. She ended up puking it out Sunday morning. They tried replacing it that night, and she puked it up again. Today, she has the opportunity to meet calorie and protein goals to avoid the NG tube. They want to make sure she's getting the nutrients she needs. She's very motivated to avoid the NG tube. Her IV line was going bad yesterday as well, so they placed a new one in the opposite arm. Over the weekend, we made some good progress. We officially have our third negative culture from her blood bacteria (E. faecium). They retested to check for the digestive bug (C. diff), which returned negative. They did a respiratory panel at our request, which came back completely negative as well.  With all of that, she is no longer in isolation. She does have contact precautions due to still being under treatment, but she can walk within the unit. As of this morning, she officially had 24 hours with no fever. Neutrophil counts have been increasing with some fluctuation. The count is currently 75. She's still having some belly and back pains, but we're hoping those will subside in the next few days. We should be getting close to discharging as long as counts go up and she can meet her nutrition goals without puking.
